Proposed Anglican Covenant

Text of the Covenant released on Tuesday 12th December 2006. At this stage an initial list of signatories is not available.

A COVENANT FOR THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND

At this time in the life of the Church of England and the Anglican Communion, faced with a faulty view of revelation, false teaching and indiscipline, we believe that it is necessary to set out where we as orthodox Anglicans stand, and to invite others to join us.

The Church - John Stott

Uncle JohnHere’s a quote from it to help us think more about last Sunday’s Bible teaching …

“On earth she [the church] is often in rags and tatters, stained and ugly, despised and persecuted. But one day, she will be seen for what she is, nothing less than the bride of Christ, ‘free from spots, wrinkles or any other disfigurement’, holy and without blemish, beautiful and glorious.

It is to this constructive end that Christ has been working and is continuing to work. The bride does not make herself presentable; it is the bridegroom who labours to beautify her in order to present her to himself.”

University Christian Groups Under Threat

In the press recently there has been lost of coverage of some of the treatment of University groups by the students unions. It’s become clear that holding orthodox Christian beliefs is not acceptable to the secular authorities in our universities.
