Is it worth getting out of bed for?

This is the sermon from Sunday 30th March, looking at 1 Corinthains 15:1-11 and 50-58. Today Nigel Styles helps us to look at this passage and to consider how the resurrection of the Lord Jesus shows that the Christian will be changed for heaven and also that the resurrection of Jesus shows that God will destroy death.

Verse 58 gives us three practicle points of application for this passage:
1. The Christian must stand firm
2. Work for Jesus is never in vain
3. The Christian should abound in the work of the Lord.

Emmanuel Goes Camping

Over the weekend at the end of half-term (Fri 30 May - Sun 01 June), join us at Bank House Park, Hulme End, Hartington for our annual ‘Emmanuel Goes Camping’ weekend!  Last year was such a fantastic weekend together … with a lovely relaxed atmosphere, and nearly everyone able to be there for at least some of the weekend.  Details are coming soon …

Camp for the whole weekend (if you don’t have equipment, there’s almost certainly things around to borrow, so you shouldn’t need to buy anything).  Or, if you’d rather not camp, there are alternatives.  The Manifold Inn (literally just across the road) offers B and B in a homely country pub, or you could try the Hartington Youth Hostel (about two miles away, and a bit cheaper), or you could plan to come for a day visit(s) … as much as you are able.  Contact the pub or the youth hostel direct to book up to stay there.

On Sunday 01 June, The Sunday Service will be held there at 11am, with a BYO picnic lunch to follow.

… eyes … hands … ears … mouths (Easter Sunday)

This is the sermon from Sunday 23rd March looking at Luke 24:36-49 by Nigel Styles. Today Nigel helps us to look at Lukes account of the events of Easter, thinking about the absolute proof that Jesus has defeated sin and death on the cross. Today’s title for the sermon is ‘… eyes … hands … ears … mouths’.

Where is true greatness?

This is the sermon from Sunday 16th March looking at Luke 9:43-48 by Chris Hobbs, our guest preacher from St Stephen’s Selly Park in Birmingham. Chris is also a member of Emmanuel’s Council of Reference. Today he continued our short sermon series looking at Luke chapter 9 thinking about ‘greatness’. Today’s title for the sermon is ‘Where is true greatness?’.
