loving the community
Emmanuel exists for the benefit of others. We want to reach out and bless the local community however we can. We believe that the most loving thing we can do for people is tell them about Jesus. But we also want to care for people in other practical ways too, being a positive presence in Bramcote and giving people opportunities to make meaningful relationships.
Being Good Neighbours
Much of our love for the community will be expressed in small, informal ways. We encourage everyone at Emmanuel to take the initiative in being a good friend to those around them and to serve those they come into contact with. These natural, everyday interactions are an important part of our witness to the community and show that the good news we believe about Jesus really does impact us day by day.
This is our toddler group for children under 5 and their carers. There are stories, toys, snacks and activities for the children, plus the chance to chat with other parents and carers over tea, coffee and home-made cake. Many people have come along and found new friends there to support them in life with a little one. We meet at Hanley Avenue Scout Hut from 10am to 11:30am on Wednesdays. Head over to our upcoming events page to find our calendar, where you can make sure it’s happening this week. Click here to find a map.
Ministry Among The Retired
We have a desire to serve the community from the youngest to the oldest. We are about to start monthly church services in a local care home very soon. We will also be involved in visiting at the home and offering pastoral care to residents, staff and families. We have longer term desires for other ways we could help the more senior population in Bramcote and are praying about how that might take off in the future.
Every now and again we run a course for parents called Putting Parenting To Bed. Running for just a few weeks, this course is the chance to take a relaxed look at how we bring up our kids. Whether you’re the proud parent of a new baby or are dealing with teenagers, it can be really tough. We want to support you however we can, and this course takes some common sense principles from the Bible and applies them to family life today. You don’t have to be a Christian to find these things useful and there’s plenty of opportunity to ask questions, discuss the big issues and even share your own wisdom with others! Get in touch with us via the contact page for information about when the next course is running.
Community Survey & Future Plans
Early in 2012 we are undertaking a community survey in Bramcote to find out more about the area and listen to people’s stories so we can discover how we might be able to better serve the local community. Our aim is that we’ll make some new connections with people and that, based on our findings, we’ll start some new ministries later in the year. Thank you to all who are helping us by taking our survey.
We really do love Bramcote and we hope that we can serve the local community more and more. Nathan Burley is our Community Pastor, a full-time member of our church staff team dedicated to helping us engage more with the community (see our staff page for more information). If you have any questions or suggestions for how we might better be of use, please contact him via our contact page.
