give

Everything we have belongs to God.  One way of acknowledging this is to give back some of what He’s given to us to support things which are close to His heart.  Helping those in need.  Mobilising the church to take the gospel out.  Our local church is the place where we most benefit spiritually and it’s only right that most of our giving should be directed towards our church family.

Emmanuel Church is funded almost entirely by the generous donations of our regular members and attenders.  We are so grateful to God for the way He continues to provide for us in this way.

Resources On Giving
If you’d like more information about why giving is important, why not download our free e-book on the subject, called GIVING: why, what & how?  You can download it by clicking HERE.  More information about the book and how to access it is available here.

Alternatively you can buy a short booklet by John Stott called The Grace Of Giving from the bookstall.

How To Give To Emmanuel
There are several different ways of giving to Emmanuel Church.  Most regular givers give via monthly standing order.  From the church’s point of view this gives stability and security to our monthly income.  However, we recognise that not everyone is in a position to commit to give regularly.  One-off donations can be made in cash or by cheque in the Gift Box at the back of church on a Sunday.  We have made a decision not to have a collection during the church service.

Whether you give regularly or are giving a one-off gift, if you are a UK taxpayer and sign a Gift Aid Declaration, the value of your gift can be increased by Emmanuel Church claiming back tax that you have paid on that gift.  For every 80p you donate, Emmanuel can claim the 20p tax you have paid.  This means if you donate £100 we can reclaim an additional £25.

If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you too can benefit from tax relief by claiming back the difference between the basic rate of tax and the higher rate of tax (40 – 22 = 18%). You need to do this through your annual self-assessment – speak to your local tax office on the procedures.

If you would like to Gift Aid your donation, please complete a Gift Aid Declaration and return it to our Treasurer, Brian Davies.  Please contact him with any questions.  All information about giving is treated in the strictest confidence.

To get more information about giving to Emmanuel, a standing order form, and a Gift Aid Declaration form, pick up our Giving leaflet from church.  It will soon be available for download here.
